Today in my school, we had a presentation that showed how girls should dress during school. A counselor from our school said that girls should “be a b.o.s.s.” which should for beautiful, organized (I think), savvy, and sophisticated. That we shouldn’t wear dresses that are too short and necklines that are too low. That we should dress for life and for school, “not dress to advertise yourselves for something you’re not willing to give up”. She said that we should dress in school to learn and educate yourselves, not to be a distraction. She said that “there is a fine line between slutty and sexy” and she literally said the infamous line “boys will be boys.” That they will be distracted by us girls. This was an assembly for just girls no boys attended. There was no assembly for the boys. There was no assembly to teach them how to dress for school or for life. They are not teaching boys that girls aren’t just something to be stared at. They are not teaching boys that sagging in their pants below their butt is something to be ashamed of because god forbid we girls show a little cleavage and we are portrayed as “sluts”. They are teaching us girls that we should dress how they want us to dress so we are not a distraction to the boys. They are not teaching the boys not be distracted by us just because they can see boob skin. They are teaching us girls how we should dress to not be a distraction, they are not teaching boys not to see girls have something to be distracted by.
I really like this gif because Stitch does that little squinty thing that animals do when they’re really happy and relaxed and you can tell that he’s having such a superb time playing that little ukulele
